Crossley Architects Pty Ltd has gained a world-wide reputation in designing and completing tourist-related projects dominated by aquarium and oceanariums both in Australia and internationally.

Providing architectural and specialist design services, Crossley Architects has been called in to conceptualise and integrate leading-edge aquarium and life support systems for billion-dollar projects.

Based in the Central Business District at Maroochydore, Crossley Architects are in the centre of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, the fastest growing area in Australia, only an hour’s drive north of Brisbane..

Current major project include the marine life park component of the SGD 6 billion Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore. The Marine Life Park component is valued at around SGD450 million; the HK$1 Billion Hong Kong Ocean Park Grand Aquarium; and the 400 million Danish Kroner “Den Blå Planet”(The Blue Planet), will become the National Aquarium of Denmark in Copenhagen’s waterfront.

Also awaiting final approval by the NSW Government is a Crossley Architect-designed Flying Boat Base and Museum at Rose Bay in Sydney Harbour.

Crossley Architects was engaged by Underwater World Mooloolaba, Australia, to complete a number of works as part of their 2009 redevelopment scheme. Services included master planning, new otter exhibit, seal pen modifications, exterior and interpretive renovations.

In March last year (2008) Crossley Architects saw the successful opening of the AUD$12 million Crocosaurus Cove, Darwin, Australia’s newest international tourist attraction, combining a close interaction between visitors, crocodiles and wildlife.

An AUD $7.5 million Australian redevelopment at The Nobbies Centre, on Phillip Island, Victoria, saw Crossley Architects complete construction for Phillip Island Nature Parks in 2007. Crossley Architects was contracted to re-invigorate the existing facility, making it a tourist destination interpreting the island, its conservation work and the sea life of Bass Strait.

Seal Rocks, off-shore, is home to one of Australia’s largest colonies of Australian fur seals. The island is also home to colonies of Little Penguins and sea birds and transient populations of whales and sharks.

The specialized field of aquarium and oceanarium architectural design grew from the Principal and Managing Director Cam Crossley’s involvement since 1987 in the award-winning underwater and tourist project Underwater World Mooloolaba, on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.

Cam Crossley has qualifications of Registered Architect (Queensland) 2824; a Bachelor of Applied Science - Built Environment (Queensland Institute of Technology); Bachelor of Architecture (Queensland University of Technology), qualifying with distinction in design.
