In 2007 Crossley Architects were engaged by Genesis Productions to design and document the Bundaberg Turtle Interpretive Centre to incorporate new requirements and meet with budgetary constraints. Genesis developed an interpretive theme of the “Timeless Turtles” to encompass both fresh water and marine turtles of the region. The premise behind the “Timeless Turtles” was that it needed to compliment the live experience of Mon Repos, a noted marine turtle nesting rookery on the coast at Bundaberg. Mon Repos currently offers limited opportunities to visitors, whereas the Interpretive centre was designed to provide a year round, 7 day a week turtle experience.
Work on this project continued until the completion of construction documentation but has since been terminated prior to commencement of construction.
